Meeting Minutes
April 8, 2004

Dave Cavey called the HZBA meeting to order on April 8, 2004 at 12:07 pm.

Officer Reports:

  1. President - Welcomed everyone to the meeting.
  2. Secretary - Unable to attend.
  3. Treasurer - Approved as read.

Old Business:

  1. Lunch Meetings - 3-month trial on Lunch meetings completed. Voted to continue Lunch Meetings except for June and December.
  2. Budget - Committees have been requested to submit a budget by May 1, 2004. David has not received any budgets so far.

Committee Reports

  1. Directory - The drop-dead date from submitting your ad along with $100 is May 15, 2004. Rose is working with printers.
  2. Membership - John Mays reported that HZBA has a total of 15 new members since January 1, 2004.
  3. Web Master - Glenn reported that all new members should now be listed. There was some discussion about encouraging members to place Banner Ads and other ads on the Web site. If you are interested, please forward ready format copy to Glenn.
  4. Welcome Book - Al Copp distributed a copy of the final draft at the meeting for everyone to review. He will test out distribution and then contact other volunteers for distribution.
  5. Fall Fest - Mary reported that Fall Fest will probably be two (2) days this year. She is working with HVFD.

New Business:

  1. June Event - Voted to have this event catered. Al will get prices and detail his findings at the May 13 meeting. The Event will start at 5:30 pm and will be held at Woodhall Wine Cellars. Glenn McCalley will confirm with Roscoe Bartlet.
  2. Food Bank - Rose suggested and it was decided that everyone bring canned meats to the May meeting.
  3. Jim DeLuca - Jim brought to our attention the website www.herefordneighbors.com. We had a discussion and some members will visit similar sites to see if we should pursue. This developed into a conversation about encouraging businesses to advertise on our Web site and how we can drive the public to our site.
  4. Family Golf Night - Glenn is planning a Family Golf night for late May at the Hereford Golf Center. He will have details at the May 13 meeting.

Open Forum:

  1. Energy Deregulation - Most members were aware of the deregulation but have not taken action. Steve will try to get some additional information.

Web Site update: Nothing to report.

Member business presentations:
Hereford Driving School - could not attend
Carriage House Embroidery (www.herefordsports.com) - gave presentation and handed out visors with HZBA.org embroidered on them
